BOOKS2READ>Come Thursday, we’re all a little bit Irish. I don’t know about y’all, but I’m always a lot about donuts! When I tasted these donuts and wheedled the recipe from the neighbor who shared, I danced an Irish jig because it’s the best of both–Ireland AND donguts! I may just have to buy a donut pan! Which I should have considered before we’re got so close to St. Patrick’s Day. Maybe I should run to the kitchen store at the outlet mall in search of a donut pan. Or just have Amazon deliver it….
Ingredients:
Donuts
1 cup flour
⅓ cup cocoa powder
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
½ cup Guinness Extra Stout
1 egg
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup sugar
⅓ cup melted butter
Glaze-
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tsp Bailey’s Irish cream
2 tsp water
Method:
1 – Preheat oven to 325F.
2 – Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. In a large bowl, whisk together Guinness, egg, sugar, brown sugar, and butter. Stir dry ingredients into the wet until just combined. Spray donut pan with nonstick spray. Fill each cavity ⅔ full.
3 – Bake for 12 minutes.
4 – Combine all glaze ingredients and stir until blended.
5 – Dip the top of the donuts in the glaze and place on wire rack to dry.
BOOKS2READ>No links for the recipe and no tips, except you can finish off the bottle of Guinnes you opened to make the donuts. Or grab a glass of Bailey’s Irish Cream. 😉 Sade prefers to just drink the Guinness. She’s developed a taste for stout beer since her adventures in Scotland. Which is close to Ireland. Hey, we’re 3 days past the time change. I’m doing good to put enought words together to make a sentence. So give me a break. Anyway, Ireland has ancient stones. And ghosts. So this book fits. Anyway, GHOSTS AND THE ANCIENT STONES is available at most online bookstores go click on a pic with the cover, the title above, or here–BOOKS2READ–to head on over to the landing page where you can pic your favorite store. In the meantime, cheers and yum! And today’s question: Beer?
