Techinically, this is a chocolate dump cake but since we sometimes slide into a reading slump, and we know that chocolate cake cures all that ails us, I figured this was a good time to share the recipe. A second reason is that the other cure to a reading slump of the availability of thousands and thousands of books on sale free or at a deep discount. Chocolate Dump Cake

Cook time: 2 Hours
Total time: 2 hr 5 min
Ingredients
1 box chocolate cake mix
2 – 21oz cans cherry pie filling
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
Let’s Make It
1 – Pour the cherry pie filling into the bottom of the slow cooker.
2 – Sprinkle the cake mix over the pie filling.
3 – Add the butter to a small bowl and heat in the microwave for 30-60 seconds, until melted.
4 – Pour butter evenly over the cake mix.
5 – Cook on high for 2 hours.
6 – Serve hot with whipped cream or ice cream.
Tip
Dump cake can also made in the oven. Follow the same instructions, but use a greased 9×13 inch baking dish instead of the slow cooker. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Ok. Made it, and it definitely calls for ice cream.
Also, I think I would combine the cake mix with the butter and THEN sprinkle it over the pie filling. A lot of the mix was still completely dry when I took it out of the oven.
Yuck! Yeah…I’d probably make a batter with the butter to make a better batter. 😉
Or maybe even add some liquid to make the batter even better. Heck, let’s just scrap that one altogether and move on to something more yummy! “All things Pumpkin” springs to mind!
