Falling for Monday

It’s almost officiall Fall. Tomorrow. At 7:04 CDT. That’s the Autumnal Equinox. Meteorlogical Fall has already happened, ie, September 1st. Anyway, maybe Mother Nature has gotten the message. We had a small front arrive yesterday and the highs and lows this week are forecast to be more…seasonal. I keep saying this and I really mean it this time–okay every time it comes out of my mouth…and fingertips. I am soooo done with summer.

So, last week sucked. It was hot. Stuff didn’t get done. It seems my whole summer was like that.

That said, I did some stuff. I had an eye check-up, meeting the new associate doctor at the clinic. She’s cool. My regular doc, who owns the clinic offered his condolences re: Jake. Same with his staff. Jake was a favorite there. My pressure is stable in a good range so the glaucoma is still in check for now. Toby was a good boy and got into the car without too much hassle but it took both LG and me to get him into it. Now that we might have seasonal temps, I’ll start working with Toby outside with walks. He needs the discipline. I need the exercise. Hopefully, as the other commands come, “Load” will become seocnd nature.

I was bad. I ordered my Walmart run to be delivered. The weird thing was that there were two meat items one there that were available for in-person shopping and store pick-up but not for delivery. I just didn’t want to deal with going there in person. Just driving anywhere alone in the car feels weird. Anyway, the heat was my excuse and I’m sticking to it.

I did a minimal amount of writing. I really need to just do it. I know y’all are bored with my whining about it.

The squirrel mafia is getting bold. There are now two of them fighting for their turn in the birdfeeder outside the office window. They play chase along the window sill and bounce in and out of the feeder, making it swing wildly. On the other hand, the hummingbirds are busy at the feeder so I’m hoping the cooler temps aren’t temporary.

Stormy had a good match on Saturday even though they lost. The coach even texted his mom to brag on him after the game. Sunday’s game went much better–they won 4-2. I’m hoping to catch him in action now that it’s sort of cooling off. In college football, my Cowboys had a huge game–59-0. The team they beat wasn’t exactly stellar but hey! It’s a win and both the offense and defence were rolling. OU, on the other hand? They won–barely–against an unranked team. Here’s hoping they can figure out all the moving parts before they play Georgia this coming weekend.

In reading news, I’ve fallen into a Charley Davidson marathon. Darynda is a friend and I love her sense of humor–as shared through Charley’s character. It’s been two years and before that, it was like almost 10 since I’d done anything close to a marathon. It’s an interesting world to inhabit for a while and yes, I am still hiding out in other places. Anyway, if you’ve never read the Grim Reaper/Grave/Charley Davidson books, you should. The main series is complete and Darynda has branched out into the next gen, ie. Charley and Reyes’s daughter. I’m hop;ing for a new set of books coming out sooner than later in that arena.

So that’s my news. Anybody got good stuff going on?

Yay for Fall! Like you, I am so over the heat. It’s only supposed to be 85 here today, which, in Michigander terms, is still pretty hot, but it’ll feel way cooler, so yay. I’m sorry your week was sucky. Yay for a good eye check and Toby being good. Eh, if you need grocery delivery, then you’re not being bad. I’d do it, too, but I don’t feel like I can trust the kids at Walmart to choose my groceries. As for writing… Open a blank page and just free flow for a while, writing whatever comes into your head. LOL about your squirrel mafia. Yay for Stormy and for your football teams. Yay for having a dependable book series to binge on. I’ve been so off reading, I can’t even get into the Dick Francis I opened. Blerg.

Stuff going on… We’re trying to get back into walking. Maybe now that the heat is slacking off, we’ll manage it. Lord knows, my ever-widening ass needs the exercise. Other than that, same ol’ same ol’ here.

We’ve only hit 82 so far and the breeze is out of the NE so yeah. I’ll take it!

I hear you on the shopping expertise. I only use it for the items that don’t matter. Anything meat or produce just waits until I get off my bum and do it myself. Except for salad mix. That’s pretty hard to mess up.

Yeah, I was going to take Toby walking this morning but that was before the washing machine door wouldn’t stay closed so I can’t laundry. I’ve ordered what I hope is the right piece to be replaced. If that doesn’t work, I may have to scrape deeper for a new door/hinges, or–heaven forbid–a new machine. It’s only 14 years old…

Anyway, hope you and Hubs get a walk in and you really should get into that Dick Francis. Just sayin’… 😉

Gah, what is it with appliances? Yeah, let’s hope you don’t need a new machine. I priced washer/dryer sets a few days ago (because our washer is near dead) and they’re starting at nearly a thousand. Ugh.

*knocks wood* The gas dryer works great. We’ve had trouble with the washer door before. The rest seems to work fine but replacing the door gets up there and it might be cheaper–given the age–in the long run to just replace. Don’t want to. But…yeah…

          It’s Monday. All day. 😝

I’ll see if I can dredge up some good stuff after this cup of coffee. I’m getting soooo off schedule. Happy to hear your eye is doing good.
Weatherwise, I just saw five consecutive nights in the 40s coming up!!!! Yayyyyyyy!

I sure hope you get Fall weather. We are this week.

Not wanting to drive makes sense to me. When Toby gets more into it he will make a good trip companion.

Yes! Last week sucked. I will see the surgeon Friday and go from there. Hubs has been terrible. Middle is checking out visiting nurses even if hubs has a fit. Next step would be an easy transition for him.

I love Darynda’s books. She had a very serious fight with C. We’ve all kept her in our prayers. I’m sure books will come as she feels better.

I hope your day is good.

    • Silver James's avatar Silver James says:

Hope you get your expected Fall weather too! Your past weed was way worse than mine! Hope some of the pain has abated and the doc can deal with stuff Friday.

Bless Middle. I’m not in your shoes but at this point, I’dd be thinking about transitions too–for the health and welfare of both you and Hubs. You’re an absolute saint.

I haven’t talked to Darynda in a while. We texted almost daily for a period last year and then life jumped into both our lives and communications just sort of petered off. I know she’s working on the Beep books and I’m being patient because yeah…her battle was touch and go there for awhile. Last I heard, everything was still in remission. I really do need to follow up with her soon. *makes note to do that at a time she probably won’t be busy*.

Other than washing machine issues, it’s just another Monday. 😆 Hang in there!

Hi, Silver! It’s been awhile. I’ve been busy with work snd dealing with my prostate cancer but I’m doing better for the most part.

I was saddened by the news about Jake. Losing a fur baby is never easy. His backstory was wonderful, though. I’m glad he could be such a big part of your family.

As for Okie college football, don’t forget us up here on the other end of the Turner. TU (that’s the University of Tulsa) also pulled of a rout, though not by as great a margin–42 to 0 against East Texas A&M. They’re off to a three to nothing start, their best since 2008. That also means Oklahoma teams swept the weekend, 3-0.

    That’s all for now.

Hey you! Good to hear from you KB. So sorry the PC is still hanging over your head. Sending healing thoughts your way! Jake was one of a kind and he is still greatly missed. There will always be a hollow corner of my heart that only he could fill.

Yeah, yeah. TU. 🙄 I don’t forget about them, especially since they dinged my Pokes for the second year in a row. Grrr. 😉 We just don’t get the coverage down here on the Golden ‘canes like we do the Pokes and Sooners. Aren’t they highly ranked in their conference?

You take care of yourself and check in from time to time, y’a hear?!!?

Got something to say?
