Wedneday Words: Long Time Coming

Here it is Wednesday once again. Have I mentioned how much better my head is in the morning when we’re back on Standard Time? I actually feel prodecutive and I’m not yawning my way through words. That said, today’s snippet was produced under the fake Daylight Saving time. Still, the words aren’t back and I have a slight idea of where they fit in when I get to this part. The Thursday Threads prompt is: “I don’t have long.” I’m hoping I don’t have long to wait for the dang book to be finished.

Sade rolled her hand in a speed-it-up motion. “Can we hurry this up? I don’t have long.”

“Do not be rude, human.” Titania stared down her nose even though they were close to the same height.

“You started it.”

“No, you did.”

Sinjen stepped between the two women as Caleb muttered, “And this is why I’m glad I grew up without siblings.”

Sade whirled on him. “Seriously? What was I, chopped liver?”

“I was a wolf pup until your twelfth birthday.”

“Yeah, and you ate my Barbie when I was eight.”

“You hated that doll. You used it to play fetch with me.”

Ariel put a finger to his lips while nudging Aisling toward the door. She opened her mouth to speak but he shook his head and edged her closer to the exit.

“I have no interest in what you and your flea-ridden werewolf did as children.” Titania sniffed in derision.

“Well, seems to me, you had a lot of interest, considering you and Oberon kept kidnapping me.”

“I did no such thing. That was Oberon all on his own. I would have simply killed you.”

“And you just made my case for me.”

Once he had Aisling out into the hallway, Ariel quietly shut the door, grabbed her hand and all but dragged her to the stairwell. she tried to speak again but he shushed her once more.

“Not until we are outside.”

Once they were clear of the hotel, she planted her feet and refused to move. “What was that all about?”

“A diversion.”

“Why?”

“So we could escape.”

“Why?”

Ariel kissed her then answered, “Because.”

There you have it. Just a fun little scene to give Ariel a chance for some alone time with Aisling. They really need some alone time because I have yet to figure out how to get them past the just-kissing stage. Don’t worry. I’m working on it. Writers, feel free to rhapsodize on the prompt. Readers, what’s something youy’re waiting for that you wish would come sooner?
