It’s Wednesday once again and time to play #1lineWed. Today’s theme is…drum roll please…*beats on desk with fingers*…**FALL**. And since THE SOUND OF SILENCE released yesterday on Amazon and is now live at a couple of other on-line stores like iBooks/iTunes, I thought I’d share one last snippet from it before returning to my next WIP. If you want to grab a copy, you can CLICK HERE for a little side trip to D2D and they’ll link you up to the store of your choice! 🙂 And of course, you can click on the side bar to go straight to Amazon. 🙂
This scene…well, I’m not going to say much about it. I want to tease you enough to go buy the book 😉
“This can never be,” Verity whispered. “We can never be.” The wind caught her words and brought them to his heart. “I will lose you. No matter how hard I try to hold on, you and me…we just aren’t meant to be.”
A shudder rocked her and Roman feared she’d fall into the angry water lapping at her feet. With stealthy moves, he sidled closer. She didn’t seem to notice. When he was close enough, he reached for her, but she leaned away, her perch far more precarious now.
“Is it true?” she asked. “What they say about witches? That we can’t drown?” Not that it mattered. There would be no river where she was going. She could hear the sorcerer calling her. She didn’t have much time.
Roman’s lungs turned to the stone that was his natural form and he couldn’t breathe. “No,” he answered but the wind blew the word away.
“The damage is done, Roman. I can’t fix it. I can’t make it go away. You are good and light and…I’m not. The darkness in my heart, in my head…” She spread her arms wide, as if welcoming the lashing rain. “I am the foulest of the foul, Roman.”
“Not true, Verity! You are goodness. You are truth.”
She lifted her shoulders in a small shrug. “Maybe.”
What are y’all falling into, out of, onto these days? I may get my life back by the end of the week. 😆 Just in time to dive into the next book!
