Full Moon Monday

Did y’all see the moon last night? Yup. It was full. And big. We’re slowly sliding into fall when we’ll be looking at harvest moons hanging on the eastern horizon like fat Chinese lanterns. And that’s about as poetic as I’m going to wax today.

So…TV. Funny story. Lawyer Guy and I watched NORTHWOODS LAW last night. One of the Fish & Game guys got a call about a snake. In a bed. In a house. This particular officer hates snakes. Like LG. So…he gets to the house. The homeowner’s son (probably college age) who discovered the snake was out in the yard with his Lab. He was as freaked out as the officer. Snake! In the bed! So, Officer Bronson goes upstairs. Yup. There’s a snake STILL IN THE BED. He goes out to get his catch pole. This is the conversation in my family room while the scene plays out:

LG: Here, let me go out to my truck to get a hand grenade.

Me: …

LG: No, call the fire department. There might be a nest. We’ll burn the house down.

Me: …!

LG: Wait, the house belongs to his parents. Hey, I know a good realtor.

Me: *bites lips*

LG and Bronson (as the snake is being released in the woods across the street): I HATE snakes.

Me: No kidding…

Moving on… Sports. NCAA football pollsters are idiots. Just sayin’. On the other hand, my Cardinals are mostly winning. Like quite a bit actually. So yay.

Writing: This damn revision is going to kill me. 175 pages. I’m finally on page 120. There is not ONE page that doesn’t have a major revision on it. I’m just hoping it makes sense when all is said and done. On the other hand, I don’t hate it any more. I have conceded that this revision is making the story better.

Reading: I’m halfway through SLEEPING UGLY and loving it. My problem is, by the time I’m done on the computer, my eyes can only take a few pages of reading. Which is sad because the book is a lot of fun. On the other hand, I have been listening. I went back four books in the Kate Daniels series in anticipation of the release of the new and final book in the Kate/Curran story arc. I’m a little–okay a LOT–sad about that. The authors have promised not to leave the world so hopefully, new books will come out from time to time and we might get a peek at how Kate, Curran, and their personal pack are doing. I’m finishing up with IRON AND MAGIC, a spin-off from Kate’s world, and the first in a trilogy about Hugh D’Ambray, who was Kate’s nemesis through many of the books. MAGIC TRIUMPHS at midnight tonight. No, I won’t stay up for it.

The World: We lost some good ones last week. John McCain. Robin Leach. Neil Simon. In the midst of that, there was a mass shooting at a gamers’ tournament in Jacksonville. I have theories about video gaming (especially first-person shooters) and the rise of Millenial-aged real-life shooters.

On that note, there’s hot coffee in the pot waiting for me to pour into my cup for a second shot of caffeine, and 50 more pages of revisions. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get done today. That’s my plan. However, you know what they say about best laid plans and all that…

What are your plans today?

    Today’s plans? Work…
I don’t follow college sports much but while I was riving for Uber last Friday I listened to the number 1 ranked Union at number 2 ranked Broken Arrow high school football game on the radio. BA beat Union for the first time in about ten years, making them number 1 in their division! Gotta love Oklahoma high school football!

    • Silver James says:

Yeah, someone pundit once said a NFL team would never work in Oklahoma because we’re all too rabid about our high school and college football. 😆 Also, BA and Union have the best football teams their booster clubs can buy. 😉

  2. Plans… for today… Hmmm… I did some pay-job work a little while ago that I should’ve done this morning. The pay-job work I was supposed to get in the mail didn’t show. I walked the loop – my usual 1 mile walk around the neighborhood. I read a bit more of Band of Brothers. I did some editing and I need to do way more, but I am unmotivated.

I’m so glad you’re loving Sleeping Ugly. I missed the Northwoods Law last night. I’ll catch it in reruns. LOL about the snake. I missed the moon, too, but it’s hard to see the sky with all these trees. Good luck with the rest of your pages! You can do it!

Bronson looks like he’s about 14 but I adore him. And watching him and LG was priceless. I really need to either start walking (somewhere besides the aisles of WallyWorld) or get my feet on the gazelle. I’m going to try getting more read tonight. I want to know how SLEEPING UGLY ends!

I cracked up at hand grenade, and was nodding my head emphatically at setting the house on fire. LG is a man after my own heart when it comes to snakes 🙂 And if I have nightmares tonight about snakes in my bed, I’m going to blame you, Silver!!

I know this revision is tough, but you are going to make this book amazing!! I know you can do it!

    • Silver James says:

I’ll let LG know you’re on his side. I have to admit, I’d be a little freaked there was a snake in the bed, but then I’d catch and release because I’m all calm and cool like that. 😉 And thanks. I’m down to the last 15 pages. If I push hard, I could finish today. Maybe. 😆

Got something to say?
